Stephanie-AboutNew

Our Founder

Stephanie Bolton James has more than ten years of experience leading and growing one of the largest women's professional groups in Prince George's County, Women of Prince George's. As a descendant of Black Wall Street and a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Stephanie is passionate about entrepreneurs and women in business. As a long-time resident of the Washington, DC, area, Stephanie noticed a need for a resource to connect and support professional women in the Prince George's County community. In 2010, she co-founded Women of Prince George's as a platform where local women business owners and professionals could connect, grow, learn, and ultimately enhance their business position.

Women of Prince George's host annual meetings, events, and industry-specific modules, facilitate meaningful business connections and provide access to an influential professional network. The organization's signature event is its annual conference, where professionals from the region gather to hear the latest industry trends, learn from influential speakers, and engage in elite networking. The women of Prince George's aim is to educate women, strengthen families and communities, and increase their economic position as global leaders.

Stephanie's work in the community has earned her several awards and acknowledgments. In 2011, the Hospitality and Tourism Institute at Prince George's Community College recognized her for her commitment and support to the program. In 2014, Stephanie received the Black Wall Street Award at Proud Mary's Restaurant in Fort Washington, Maryland, to commemorate her organization's elite status and true community impact. In 2015, the organization received a proclamation for an official Women of Prince George's Day from State Attorney Angela Alsobrooks and a letter of recognition from County Executive Rushurn Baker, congratulating the organization on its impact and success. 2016 Stephanie served on a panel at the Prince George's County African American Museum and Cultural Center's Black Wall Street event.

Stephanie holds a BA in Business from North Texas State University and a Master's Certification in Events Management from George Washington University. She has been active with the Association of Meeting Professionals, the Society of Government Meeting Planners, and the Northern Virginia Business Travel Association. Stephanie is a former Links Inc. Reston Chapter member, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, and the Prince George's County Chapter of Jack and Jill.
